  • Who should see a chiropractor?

Chiropractors are trained to see patients of all ages, from newborns and pregnant mothers to geriatric patients. Though the philosophy remains the same for each individual, chiropractors utilize techniques fitting each patient’s specific needs and body types.

  • What do chiropractors do?

Chiropractors are doctors who focus on the human nervous system. They are also effective in treating many musculoskeletal issues which can manifest as extremity problems, back pain, neck pain, tension headaches, and other spine injuries.

  • What is a chiropractic adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment is a procedure in which chiropractors use their hands or a small instrument to apply a controlled impulse of force to a spinal joint. The goal is to reposition a misaligned spinal joint to improve joint function, restore posture, and optimize neurological function allowing the brain to communicate effectively with the rest of the body. Ideally, the patient will find body and back pain relief.

  • Will just one or two chiropractic adjustments completely remove my pain?

In some cases, instant relief following an adjustment or multiple adjustments is possible. However, as with most conditions, it takes time for your body to heal. Depending on the severity and duration, most conditions treated by chiropractors can be resolved with a 6-12 week care plan created by your physician. If a proper resolution is not found, a referral to another provider can be made.

  • Can I adjust myself?

Chiropractors receive extensive training to adjust patients' bodies in a very specific location and direction to provide pain relief. Therefore, it is nearly impossible to recreate an accurate correction on your own or by an untrained individual.

  • Why should I see a chiropractor if I am not in pain?

It is commonly believed that people visit a chiropractor only when they are in pain. However, just like checkups for your dental health, it is important to get your spine assessed by a chiropractor periodically, even if no symptoms are present. Wellness/maintenance care is an important preventative measure in injury prevention and for a healthy functioning nervous system.
